I had stopped growing for at least 5 years before I practiced, so my extra 4 inches is for sure from my own effort. When I practiced, usually I thought about extending my legs along, but once or twice of a week, I would think about extending my arms and neck, and also think my body extending from the light ball to all directions once for a while just for the variety. The point is once you understand the theory you body will follow you. So I grow taller very proportionally. My feet are about half size larger from 6 1/2 to 7 (sometimes 7 1/2 according to different shoes style). My hands are about 1/4 inches bigger than before. I wear the same size of pants, but do not need cut the edges anymore.
I have to point out that I spent too many years before started the growing practice. I just wanted to make sure I had enough power to do so and sifted all of the Qigong methods existing there to my usage. So maybe you are not so sensitive as how it happened to me at first place. But I had been always one of the most insensitive students in Qigong classes, so as long as you stick to my method you will work it out.
To be concrete, it was my new year resolution in 2003, I finally made the commitment to myself that I will devote the whole year to my method I designed. It worked very well. I marked my height every weekend on a wall. I am a hot temper girl, but with many years meditation training, I learned to hold my curiosity. Only each weekend did I check once. I saw the line above the previous weekend. At the first half a year, the jump was clear and almost evenly. From the later summer on, I noticed my height increased quicker. In the fall and winter I grow almost 2 inches. Then I kept on practicing and my height increase another inch in 3 months. Originally I thought I would be extremely happy if I reached 5f 3 and my ideal height was 5f 4. I drew the two lines on the wall on the first day of my practice. After I reached it, I thought I should practice more energy increasing methods. So I stopped growing Qigong and changed to other practices. But still I practice the same method occasionally in order to consolidate my height. Maybe I should practice again since the height requirement for a girl in the United Stated is much taller than the one in China.
The following was my experience and I believe more or less you will encounter them. The most important thing is whatever happens when you practice, including sudden growing feeling, seeing inside lights, feeling inner energy moving, or no feelings at all, ect, you should not be surprised and still stick to my simple 4 steps. It is your body and energy responding to your mind, your mind should completely focus on growing taller target.
Headache: It mainly because you breath too fast and gathered too much Qi in your brain. Focus on the light ball for a while till you feel the energy moving down.
Emptiness: After a while practice, you may feel there is no happening. You could not imagine anything, there is nothing responding in your body. Focus on your breath. Imagine each breath sending energy to your legs and extending your legs far away in the darkness. Look around with eyes closed, you can see the endless darkness, this is the real realm of the universe and you are welcomed to express yourself, it will let you wish true.
Sudden growth: With vivid imagination, well practice, your mind is light and happy, you feel your energy moving inside your body. Then suddenly your legs move forward as if your feet walk forward. Do Not Be Surprised, it is natural and keep on doing what you are doing. You do not want to be distracted by the temporary result. You need focus on your practice in order to reach the final result.
To practice Qigong on your own is a lonely journey. Fortunately, we have internet, we can find people in the same interest much easier. But still when you practice, it is your work, you have to do it till you finish alone, no body else can help you. This lonely work is not unpleasant however, you will find that you are closer to the bottom of the universe in the darkness, and the universe will open its door to you at last.
